A drill press ensures that holes are square, straight, and repeatable. It’s a must for precision
joinery, hardware installs, and jig building.
Key Uses for the Drill Press:
Drilling dowel and pocket holes.
Creating stopped holes or clean through-holes.
Setting hardware like knobs or shelf pins.
Creating stepped holes to set hardware below the surface of the workpiece.
Drill Press Tips:
Use a sacrificial backer board to prevent blowout. Clamp backer board so drill bit goes
into the same exact spot or move the backer to undrilled position each time.
Adjust speed based on material and bit size – the larger the bit, the slower the speed.
For the cleanest hole, use Brad Point drill bits and set the depth stop so only the point
cuts through. Then flip over the workpiece and use this point-hole to guide the Brad Point
through from the back side.
Lock the depth stop for consistent results.
Mark centerlines and use a center punch to avoid bit wandering.
Use the Rip Fence as a guide for multiple holes on the same centerline.
Use clamps to hold small pieces securely.

Why the MARK 7 Drill Press is a Step Above
Unlike standard benchtop drill presses, the MARK 7 drill press offers variable speed without
manual belt and pulley changes. The quill travel is long, smooth, and accurate — and the entire
worktable adjusts for height and tilt. The headstock locks securely in position, so you get
vibration-free drilling with perfect alignment every time. The Rip fence is the perfect drill guide
with available flip stops for repetitive cuts.
The PowerPro touchscreen allows speed control from 250 to 10,000 RPM.
Position the table in-and-out with a simple crank, and use tilt features for angled holes,
such as screw pockets.
The rip fence mounted on the table tilted to a 45-degree angle makes an adjustable v-
block for drilling round objects.
The sturdy construction and built-in depth stop help avoid over-drilling.
The telescoping support legs with connector tubes add extra sturdy, 4-corner support,
under the heaviest workpiece when drilling.
You’ll enjoy cleaner, straighter holes and unmatched versatility.
A drill press brings unmatched accuracy to woodworking. Perfect for dowel holes, hinge
mortises, and repeatable drilling tasks, it’s a shop essential.
How to Get Great Results on a Drill Press:
Mark centerlines and use a center punch to avoid bit wandering.
Adjust speed based on bit size and material.
Use clamps to hold small pieces securely.
