I upgraded to 3” wheels a few years ago. Recently the red plastic on the wheels started cracking. One finally started coming apart, so I bought new ones locally. The new ones had steel bearings. Fit perfectly. The wheels were about $7 each. We’ll see if the new ones survive any better. 4” or 5” would work much better (over cords, etc.), but the mechanism won’t allow larger ones. Type of wheel plastic is the weak spot in casters. Everything else would probably never wear out.
