Just a side note about my watch tinkering, which frequently employs doo-dads on my Shopsmith.
This one was pretty far gone, but a lot of sentimental value. An experiment
Before: Disintegrated shellac, and pinholes into the nickel dial:
With working innards now, and a bit of up-cycling on the dial!
(Close inspectors will notice other swaps. Yeah, I've got a lot of spare pieces to use.)

I masked and added a wee bit of hammered paint so that the "steering wheel spokes" don't get confused with the "hands".
