A couple more and I'm done
My neighbors, for whom I do a lot of work, also garden, so...

A dibble is used to make holes in the soil to plant seeds (just in case you city slickers had no clue).
And I forgot about making stocking hangers for all the grandkids...

(I have to thank Steve Ramsey, WWMM, for this nice little project.)
And here are the guitar pick boxes with a finish applied...

(Again, thanks Steve Ramsey)
And I'm done, or at least that is all that will be done before tomorrow.

This 'city slicker' never heard of a dibble(and I was born in Conway).
I did guess it's purpose though. I assume the rings are to calibrate depth.

I had planned to do more, but it did not happen.

Best part was the wife enjoyed helping by doing most painting and glitter work. These are decorations in our house or used for the labels on packages. We had great time working on them.
I did some other items, cat toys, I'll add a pic of one later after it is opened.

I've been learning to use scroll saw. So, I had lots of practice doodles.

Plus I found the 3-D ones to be a lot of fun.

Best part was that my wife joined me in painting and did the application of glitter. We had a lot of fun working together on these items. They are decorating our house and some are being used as name tags on presents.
We also made some cat toys. I will post a pic of one after the present is opened.
I thought I would do a lot more, but the shop is currently in a shambles with me needing to move from my good M500 to a less than perfect M510 for my table saw work. So a lot of presents are still just ideas until next time:D I may open a thread to discuss my lack of progress.
Merry Christmas to all on the SS forum!!

Actually, I believe it will. Think of it like making a bandsaw box. Just need to tilt the table like you would a scroll saw. Probably use a 1/16" blade unless the curves are large enough to use 1/8". Seal the entrance cut with CA glue as you would a bandsaw box.JPG40504 wrote:
Would not a Band Saw work? Fergit I asked that!:o
I do have a scroll saw, but it might be fun to see what can be done. My smallest bandsaw blade is 1/8", but will order a 1/16" after the first of the year to try it. It will also give me a chance to try the Nexabond in cold weather.
Me thinks you gave up on the idea too soon.
Be well,
Ben

When he mentioned that the rings were cut along the grain, I 'reconsidered' my hasty critique of the original minimally thought out statement. It has to be faster with a bandsaw!!! Sanding might increase though, but a drum sander on a tilted table should be fairly speedy. Holding technique same as for cutting, keep curve(s) tangent [sorta since two curves] to the drum.benush26 wrote:Actually, I believe it will. Think of it like making a bandsaw box.
