I think the real question is does the PowerPro carry the UL certification? If it does then I would say any Power Pro that trips a properly functioning GFCI is defective. And if the Power Pro does not carry UL certification what is the insurance industries position of incidents where non UL approved...

Twould be to SS's advantage if there were more 'complimentary reviews'! http://www.shopsmith.com/shopsmithpowerpro/pp_purchase.htm For close to $2K, I'm not sure that I'd consider the typical short reviews such as "great sandpaper, sticks really well!" very useful. I'm considering buying ...

I think this is what he is asking about. http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/catalog/l_latheshield.htm I'd rather wear a face shield http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/catalog/mvsafety_shield.htm Mind you, when you want to blow some dust off your work, blowing through the face shield doesn't work :p...

1500 grit stuff; CA finish

You can get 600 paper at the big home box stores (Home Depot or Lowe's). It's typically called "wet and dry". I personally like using "Micro Mesh" (or "Micromesh") for above 400. There's a chart that says that the grit size of Micromesh is not the same as the standard s...

Thanks, Dusty & JPG40504. I have the feeling (unfortunately) that I have a 'boogered' shaft, and probably a loose/broken spring and teeth which engage the speed indicating ring. I did loosen the set screw, and could rotate the dial, but couldn't pull off the dial. Clearly, I didn't loosen it eno...

Removing and adjusting the speed dial

I watched the "sawdust session" video #24, where Nick Engler replaces the speed control. I don't need to replace the speed control; I just want to adjust the speed dial. Do I need to remove the belt & unlatch the cam before I can loosen the 3/32 set screw and remove the speed dial? Or ...

Thanks - the CA method looks pretty easy and durable. I'll have to try it for my Christmas gift list items. Just a word of caution: Many of the youtube videos (or written postings) don't emphasize wearing gloves. The CA may cure very quickly; when it does, it gets very hot. Wear a nitrile glove on ...

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm planning on doing crosscuts (well, angled crosscuts, anyway). I need to build a table saw sled fixture. I'll operate without the guard, but use the sled fixture as a zero clearance plate, with clamps on the work to (hopefully) prevent workpiece launches. (Saw blad...
