There are a few more videos out there in the hinterlands of the interweb with those two hosts (the one you linked is 3 of 3 for the cabinet project - you can get to the first 2 parts from that page by clicking "Show more" under the date published). I'm not sure if they had a short lived TV...

Years ago, when I lived in a colder area, I used it for a couple of years.

I never had any problems with removing it. Could be it's made differently nowadays.

I'm guessing it is part of the Miter-Pro (Part No. 555404). It appears to be missing the other metal "fence" that would be installed 90 degrees to the fence you have. The bar under the part with "Shopsmith" on it would run in the miter track allowing for 45-degree cuts.
