Close to needing to do some router table work on my Candle Lantern project. Since I don't have a router table, I modified my ER 10's table to hold my router (this is my $8.00 craigslist router). First step was to make sure that the router would clear the tie bar.

Once I was sure that the router cleared the tie bar, I used the router base to help locate the approximate center of the table insert slot, then marked it with a magic marker. Once centered, I marked the location of the holes for the #10 mounting screws.

Once the four holes were marked, I used a hand dril to make the four thru holes in the router base. I then used the Mark 5 in drill press position to drill a pre-tap holes in the bottom of the table, setting the quill stop to stop ~1/8" short from going through the other side. I first drilled and tapped one hole using a 10-32 bottom tap, inserted a screw and tightened it so that I could then align the other three holes with the table so that I could mark thier hole locations. This ensured accurate alignment of the four thru hole to the table surface.

Mounted the router with 10-32 x 3/4" trimmed head hex machine screws with lock and flat washer.

'Bonus feature' for doing micro depth adjustments on the under table router. Since my 'el cheapo' router doesn't have micro depth adjust, I can use the ER's table raiser crank. I just lower the table until the router contacts the table raiser screw, loosen the lock collar on the router, and turn the crank handle to change the router depth. Retighten the router lock collar and away you go.

In the pic, it shows the table raiser bar up against the router but that doesn't work well. It binds. For it to work, you just swing the bar out of the way and let the screw contact the router directly.

Can't take credit for the concept. Gotta give heathicus the credit. There was a thread back in September that discussed it and Heath actually located pictures on one previously done by someone and posted it. Check out Heaths post here. Ironically, the photos show what appear to be the exact same router I have!!! What are the chances of that??

I gotta give you credit on that too Heath. You were the one that planted the seed for the Greenie color scheme. For that, I say thanks x 1000!! It has REALLY grown on me. She looks great next to 'Greenie I'.
