If you live near Colorado and turn wood... or want to learn how to use those lathe options on your ShopSmith you might try this symposium. Alot of friendly folks there. Lessons for beginner to advanced, I went last year and had a ball:

Over 35 presentations given by some of the best woodturners in the world, for beginner to the professional. Large vendor exhibit and a hands on woodturning program area. Free gallery is open 9-4 sat. and 10-3 Sun
