I cut the 2x2x10 blanks from 8/4 kd red oak on the table saw. I then octagonalized them on the bandsaw (using a sled made from a 2x6 with a v-shaped notch in it. He shows how to do that). I then turned the tenons on the legs on the lathe. Finally, I used the same v-sled on the bench to hold the legs while I tapered them with a hand plane. Good workout! ;-)

Chris gives the sightlines and resultant angles to drill the mortises in the book. I just followed his directions, drilling them with a Forstner bit on the drill press. He made a fancy jig to be able to get everything at the right angle. I just tilted the table! :-D

(Oh if you're thinking "That doesn't look like red oak", it's finished with General Finishes hard wax oil in brown. It's not quite what I was after but no going back now!)
