Who won the auction for the Power-Mount Adapter Kit?
Not something I would normally post about but I watched with curiosity to see how much it would go for and wondering who got it. It is a rare item to have and will be a nice addition to someone's collection. It is pictured below.
_ .
So, for whoever bought it I am wondering if the Mounting Posts are the actual 8" long ones for the Jointer that originally came with the kit or are the Mounting Posts from one of the SPT's. They look shorter than 8" long in the picture. Only the Jointer (3-7/8"), Jigsaw (8-7/8") and Belt Sander (6-1/4") used Straight Mounting Posts with snap rings. The other SPT's had adjustable collars for their Straight Mounting Posts.
I didn't see it in the auction so if you need the instructions, they are the PDF below.

I have a number of complete Power Mount Adapter Kits, and the lengths on the mounting posts are all the same - 5”.chapmanruss wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 12:32 pm I am wondering if the Mounting Posts are the actual 8" long ones for the Jointer that originally came with the kit or are the Mounting Posts from one of the SPT's.

So now it's time to eat some crow. (corrected, sorry JPG)
I don't remember where I read that the Set of Twin Mounting Tubes for the Jointer only in the Power Mount Adapter Kit were 8" long but that is too long and the 5" long Mounting Tubes would be the correct length. I just did some checking/measuring to confirm this.

Re: Who won the auction for the Power-Mount Adapter Kit?
He must of wanted it really bad to pay $450. I have a set minus the tubes. I have the head stock pulley also, bought separately. I got them 4 or 5 years ago and don't remember what I paid. However, I know it was no where near $450 combined. WOW!

Re: Who won the auction for the Power-Mount Adapter Kit?
The Power-Mount Adapter Set (P/N 11 920) I have came with a Model 10ER I purchased in 2017. That early Model 10ER was on a wood bench made from the Bench Plans Magna provided to Model 10 owner's and had the retractable casters added too. It also had a Speed Changer and was fairly complete. Let's just say it was a really good bargain for everything I got with it. The additional "A" Adapter I have came from somewhere else.

Re: Who won the auction for the Power-Mount Adapter Kit?
The Power Mount Adapter Kit has a special place in my story as a collector: it was my first vintage, complete-in-box collectible Shopsmith item, and is still probably one of my most unique items.

Re: Who won the auction for the Power-Mount Adapter Kit?
Having overpaid for a power mount set myself, I know how one would feel to have to be the highest bidder no matter the cost. I put a lot of time and effort into tracking a set down and purchasing a machine it came on, verifying photos and the entire package contents several times, driving for hours (and staying overnight halfway) to pick it up, only to find all the desirable parts had been separated from the machine, and the listing photos were a few years old from before their latest move.
I decided if I was willing to go through all that to get a set at what I considered a steal, why would I not also be willing to pay an outrageous amount for something that I may never see come up for sale again? Mine was the eBay purchase from 2021. Slightly less than this latest one.
