Hi ya'll.

I ran across this jigsaw and was wondering if you would fit my MkV 500? The pulleys on it have me doubting it would, as i do not know how i would transition to the pulleys.

Also, i have the 11" bandsaw, is there any advantages to having both?

Here is a pic:

Yes, it will, The pulley would have been used to run it on a power stand. Remove the pulley and use a hub and coupler.

You can download a manual from this link. http://vintagemachinery.org/pubs/detail.aspx?id=10571

Advantages to having both. :)

The jigsaw takes finer blades, so you can do more intricate cuts, and also internal cuts that the bandsaw can't do.

That Jig Saw in the picture looks in great shape. IMPORTANT, before running it make sure the main housing has oil. See Manual! The Jig Saw is no longer made and many of it parts are no longer available new from Shopsmith. As for blades it uses common plain end blades found from many suppliers and the same as the Scroll Saw blades for double end use. A unique feature of the Jig Saw is it can use single end saber/jig saw blades with the upper arm not used or removed for more clearance.

All SPT's, Single Purpose Tools, Special Purpose Tools or Add-a-Tool as they have been known over the years (except the Planer, see note), can be used on any Mark series machine, the Power Station, the Crafters Station, a Mark V Shop Deputy conversion, a bench made or purchased for individual or multiple tools w/a motor and even on the Model 10E and 10ER or Sawsmith RAS with the proper adapters. Note the Planer has two versions, a stand mount Pro Planer or the Mark Mount Planer that sits on the way tubes powered by the quill end. The Mark series tools include the original Mark 5, Mark 2, Mark VII, Mark V, Mark V 500, Mark V 510, Mark V 505, Mark 1, Mark V 520 and Mark 7. That is how the Mark series tools are labeled in their order of their release or name changes. Yes I said Mark 1 but that is a whole different story covered elsewhere. See link below.
