spiral blades ,intarsia and the ss jig saw

any one have a favorite brand spiral cut blade for the jig saw?
Or pro/con advise on them
gearing up for a little intarsia ,could use some advise .
Should I spring for another saw?
not sure I want to stand up the entire time I am working ?
Than again bending over setting down may be worse then standing ?

My wife uses Flying Dutchman blades and loves them.
IMO there is nothing wrong with the SS scroll saw. Which saw do you have? We have the stand alone Teal saw. My wife sits for hours on a stool cutting. You do have to have the proper height stool but she is perfectly happy.

I have the 18 inch saw I have only used it a few times seems my daughter's use it more then me

Thatsa 'jig' saw fer sure. Yes it mounts high off the floor so standing can be an issue.

This all started after visiting woodworks in Col. and found a book on intarsia and thought it looks like fun as well as a good way to use up the cut offs / scraps / . I have a few very young {future artist} who cant seem to set still when they are around , might as well get them started off right.

JPG I have a rubber floor mat that helps , however it only works for a short while .

OK, that is certainly a way to get started. I have two here and my wife used then to produce some nice things for a long time. They work well but a true scroll saw works better and is much smoother. Start with what you have and then go on.

As John said the Scroll Saw is better and provides a smoother cut for what you are wanting to do. A Scroll saw has two arms moving together providing even tension on the blade throughout the up and down cycle of the cut. A Jig Saw has a spring tension in the upper arm to pull the blade back up and also provides tension on the down stroke. Don't get rid of the Jig Saw though. It has it's uses. One thing it can do a Scroll Saw cannot is work as a Sabre Saw with the upper arm removed. A nice feature for cutting shapes in larger panels. I have both saws which I use for different purposes. I found my Scroll Saw, a gray one, used with a Power Station. A combination I like since it is not as bulky as it is sitting on a Mark V. Buying a stand alone Scroll Saw would be similar.
As for blades I have used blades from several manufacturers and have not had any problems with any of them. So no real recommendation for you.
