Was wondering if anyone had any other spare parts for the SawSmith RAS? I have the opportunity to get another saw for restoration but it is missing the plastic cover assemblies that are on either side of the unit. There is a left and right cover.

Has anyone found a belt source for the RAS?

Is it possible it is the same as a M5 or a MVII?

I'd have to take mine apart to check but from pictures and opening it up previously I got the impression it's wider than the Model 5xx speed changer belts. The wider belts might be difficult to find in that length. Mine seems to be in great condition, no problem operating the speed control. However I've never cut anything with the machine, might not work so well in actual use.

A Mark VII belt is wider than a Mark 5 belt.

Question about the sliding table: trying to figure out the purpose of the sliding table. Only thing I can figure out is easy move of the fence if you are going to rip cut, and sliding it in makes for less floor space used. Anyone use this feature for significant advantage?

Heath - I stumbled on a pretty unique item for the Sawsmith with a system I acquired this weekend. I’ve seen these Dealer Binder folders for the Shopsmith product line, but didn’t realize Yuba maintained that tradition with the Sawsmith. I just snapped a couple of quick pics, but will scan the full contents sometime soon.

The manual explains this. With the table forward you can do crosscuts up to 12". To cut up to 16" you push the table back with the carriage fully extended while the motor is running to cut the last 4 inches. I have used it only once. This is not for precision work.

The table pushed all the way back is also useful if do ripping operations. You can rip wider pieces.
