Jigsaw 610 Restore Parts
Does anyone here have experience with repairing the Jigsaw air pump? I understand it has a leather part that dries out and then the pump no longer works. I'm very interested in that part.
Is this where the leather piece is? It looks like it's sandwiched between these two parts. Is that correct?
If that's the case then how do you get this part to remove the leather piece?

Thanks Ron. Funny I was look straight at it and never put it together that that was the part. This is going to be hard to replicate.rpd wrote:Download the manual from this link. http://vintagemachinery.org/pubs/detail.aspx?id=10571

Re: Jigsaw 610 Air Pump
Have you tried just putting a bit of oil on it to soften the leather. Thats what I did on my A-34 (10ER) jigsaw See the maintenance section in the manual,
if you are making a new one, I believe the leather is formed while wet, but I have no experience on that
I have read of people just using an aquarium air pump instead, to get a better air stream. but again no personal experience.

Re: Jigsaw 610 Air Pump
Be aware there is a ball check valve in the lower part(s) you pictured(where the hose fitting attaches).

Re: Jigsaw 610 Air Pump
If the seal is not falling apart, still solid, add a few drops of oil around it and continue to use it. Shopsmith no longer sell this part like most of the Jig Saw parts.

Re: Jigsaw 610 Air Pump
Well Russ that's the thing. This little project is kinda 2 fold. One is to fix my air pump and the second is I'm thinking of creating a restoration kit. Maybe sell it on eBay. The parts would include part#'s - 502239 Seal Pump, 502248 Air Tube, 502275 just the plastic Yoke of the Yoke Assembly, 502274 Gasket and 502254 Table Insert. The Yoke and the Table insert would be 3D printed, the gasket would be cut out of gasket material using my wife's cricket and the pump seal would be a piece of leather also cut on my wife's cricket. The air tubing would just be the right sized tubing for the pump. Anyone have any thoughts of what they would pay for such a kit? Or would there even be much of a demand for this type of kit? What's everyone think?

Re: Jigsaw 610 Air Pump
A 'kit' will interest some, but I think individual parts would 'sell' better due to reduced $ for a particular repair. Gasket and table insert would be the 'top' sellers.

What would you pay for them JPG?
Re: Jigsaw 610 Air Pump
Has anyone figured out how to replace the gasket on two halves... mines leaking.
