Screen Hunter vs. Snipping Tool

I can tell from some posts that many of you are using Screenhunter. I replaced that when I got Windows 7 and I keep a quick link in my system tray so I can capture any portion of text or a picture with ease.

I keep them both side by side but screenhunter gets used 99.8% of the time and to be honest I don't know why I keep the snipping tool for what little use I find for it.

Thank you both. This looks like it might be a fun new toy/tool. All I have to do now is learn how to use it to its capacity. I'll have to share my time between this and my new Sketchup Pro.

I do it a little differently. I use the print screen (prt sc) key to take a screenshot and then I paste (Ctrl V) it into my favorite free picture editing software, Irfan View. There I can do any number of things with the picture including saving it as a JPEG or PDF or a number of other file types. All free, that's a good thing.

I don't use Windows so I have no experience using either Screen Hunter or Snipping tool, but I suspect that they have different options in each one that might better fit your use.

Once you get used to using one of them and it works easily for you, it is probably the right one for you.

The Microsoft "Snipping Tool" has served me well but I love new tools. Screenhunter has just been moved into that category but it appears on the surface to be a more versatile tool than Shipping Tool. I expect it to be a challenge for awhile. I have a problem though. Whenever I encounter difficulties with anything new I am quick to fall back on what I know and am comfortable with. This tends to extend the learning curve.

SketchupPro is going to be another of those challenges.
