Re: metal toggle switch--how old?
If properly cleaned and waxed, they all sink unless you hold pressure on them.
Re: metal toggle switch--how old?
You can snug up the wing nut so the table will pretty much stay in place yet allow you to still move it as needed. If the nut is loose then yes it will fall, and if it doesn't it should.

It sinks. I try to have just enough tension to keep it fairly in place while i'm trying to line up for horizontal bore but a smidge to loose and it's gona sink

An option is to use the micro adjustable stop collar.james1726 wrote:It sinks. I try to have just enough tension to keep it fairly in place while i'm trying to line up for horizontal bore but a smidge to loose and it's gona sink

That is absolutely the answer. They work perfectly and you will not regret spending the money.rpd wrote:An option is to use the micro adjustable stop collar.james1726 wrote:It sinks. Actually got one of the micro-adjust gizmos in the box-o-parts with the used Shopsmith. Just need to figure out how to use it. :--)

As far as I know, they should be lowered slowly if there is no bracket. Also, if there are bolts inside, you can heat it up with the help of a Heat Gun (like this one https://protoolsadviser.com/best-heat-guns/), metal will expand and maybe it will fall into place.
