Here's a few pics of the hanging drawers on my 10ER. A PO did a good job. The drawers are 3/8 plywood w/butt joints and the bottoms are sheet metal that is nailed to the sides. The sheet metal slides good on the angle runners. Note the X brace on the back. The sheet metal on the biggest drawer on the bottom is coming loose at the back, the nails are loose. I don't know when they were built but they have held up well.
Farmer, you probably already have everything in your shops to knock this out without spending any hobby funds Oh, and pardon my mess
Cheers!

Re: 10ER Hanging drawers
The early days of Shopsmith they had a magazine. One of the issues had a set of plans to built a set of drawers under the 10ER bench. It is probably available in the 10ER forum.

There are some in my household that MIGHT hold a different opinion AND we share the shop now because she's making bird houses. I have lost one Shopsmith and one bandsaw to the competition so to speakJPG wrote:MESS??????

Re: 10ER Hanging drawers
One thing that can make this project fun is that I usually over-build stuff which then needs a hoist to lift it (stuff like a 300 pound bird house ).
In this case the more weight the better (within reason ). Anything to stabilize a lathe.
I have some nice 4/4+ rough-sawn white oak that would plane down to 3/4" + to glue up for the outer case and I have a small stash of saved back, angle iron bed rails that would carry anything as drawer rails. I wouldn't want the drawers too heavy for easy use so I might use some rough-sawn white pine I have that is a skimpy 3/4" that would plane out at about 5/8" and be light enough. Just for fun I could make the drawer fronts out of some black walnut I have had for a long time. I would want to finish everything in clear poly...
I enjoy making shop furniture more than house furniture...
I have a full set of kitchen cabinets to build for the one rental house we have left and I kind of enjoy that work too. It's been a long time since I have done any of it.
Foot note:
I have a few sets of tool drawers in the farm shop that are steel drawers on steel runners and they tend to get fairly heavy. I used graphite spray paint on the bottom of the drawers where they slide and on the runners of the cabinet where the drawers ride. It made an amazing difference and still does. I guess it has been a couple of years now. A common trade name is "Slip Plate" and others are named similar names. I usually buy it at our local Rural King farm store.
