PMs not sent

Post by retiredsoldier919 »

Can one of the admins tell me why my PMs do not leave my Outbox?

Thx.

I saw in a previous post that outgoing messages stay in your outbox until the recipient opens the message in their inbox. I have an outgoing message that has been there for years. If your recipient has not set up their preferences to receive notices that they have a private message, they may not be aware that they have one waiting for them.

Also AIUI, if the recipients inbox is full the message won't get sent.

But does the sender not receive notice of that?

No, I can not. But I just cleaned house and have all sorts of room to receive messages. You can test here if you like.

I don't know. It has happened to me once or twice and I did not get a notice. I don't think the forum even tells you when your own inbox is full.

Just looked at my inbox. Message there reads: "Folder is 4% full (2 out of 50 messages stored)" . It is very easy to miss the notification that you have a new message.

Yes, it is easy to miss the notification on the screen. :(

If you go into User Control Panel → Board Preferences → Edit Notification Options you can choose to have the board send you an email when you get a PM, or any of several other conditions. :)
Here is a screen shot. It will probably be laid out a bit differently depending on which screen style you are using.

Thanks. I hope that is not the way it's setup. Seems an odd way to do things.
