Reassembling a Mark V Etc.

Post by JPG »

This thread is intended to illustrate reassembly of a Mark V 510 (sn 51-003056) (Inv 06/30/86) which I recently acquired. It was NOT in running condition(it ran but. . .). The Mark V was not COMPLETELY disassembled, but the links will cover most of the major areas. Eventually I intend to include reassembly of some SPT's. This will continue to be a work in progress.

It is NOT my intention to get into aligning etc. I refer you to the appropriate Shopsmith literature or the Saw Dust Sessions.

This is NOT intended to replace nor be a substitute for either Shopsmith instructions/literature or Saw Dust Sessions. It IS rather an attempt to illustrate with reasonable quality photos that to which those instructions refer.

Any errors or confusion WILL be 'fixed' when brought to my attention. I solicit input regarding both! I do want this to be accurate and helpful!

The links below are to major sections of the Mark V. Each of them link to multiple threads themselves.

JPG …

I really appreciate these. Will surely come in super-handy when I start work on the headstock repairs, the casters I have on the way now and when I get to purtyin’ up the base and carriages.

Thanks

I have added a link to Joshh's a. o. Smith motor mod thread to this thread which is itself linked to in MickyD's sticky thread at the top of this forum.

Awesome! Thanks!

I'll toss in the revisions you suggested and let you know once that is done.

Thanks. I just started a teardown of the Shop Deputy headstock going along with the Sawdust Sessions. It's been a number of years since I did my last one and I know this will be useful. I recall teardown being easier than reassembly. :p

Thanks JPG

I am glad you are happy with what I done.
If you can remember other posts that you or others have made like that PM me the links and I will make them into a pdf file and post them.
May be they could be posted in to same post, so that that can be pinned.
