Re: Jointing an 8"wide piece of cherry - on my SS 4" jointer

That's great. I'd read about it but had absolutely no faith it could work. Curious, though: would a planer sled be a safer bet? Oh, maybe not, you'd need a very LONG planer sled. So - what to do when it is wider than 8"? (Not a snarky question - same thing would come up with any jointer width ...

Re: SO what is everyone up to?

Howdy, Looks like fun. I am putting the final touches on a total refurb of a workbench I built in 1976. It toured the planet, while I was in the service and served as a base for rebuilding many Volkswagen engines. Wonderful memories are attached to this bench, so I tried to reuse all the lumber and ...

Re: So many plaques

That's poplar????? The few times I have tried finishing poplar I have had no success. What's the secret sauce (brands/colors) that you used?? Howdy, I saw this online somewhere and tried it. I used Minwax wipe on poly satin for the finish: 1. Hit the raw wood with water and sand to remove the fuzz....

So many plaques

Howdy, Recently I made 21 plaques for awards at a Model Railroad Train Show (TWMRC.org). The plaques started as poplar, dyed, stained, glazed, and varnished. The logo was made from a wooden carved master, then cast in resin. Charles Neil conditioner was used to even the colors on the wood. They look...

Re: New Look Forum

Howdy folks, My hat is off to Shopsmith for hosting this site and the Admin for keeping this site secure and operational. I have been managing forums since the mid 1990's and know the pain of upgrading to new versions of forum software. Sometimes the upgrades go smoothly, but all are important to im...

Howdy, Most forums are used for several key purposes: learn how to perform a task, fix a problem, or share experience. I have implemented and managed quite a few forums since the mid 90's, and I understand that keeping spammer out and folks on topic is a challenge. The way I removed most issues was ...

Howdy,

I highly recommend getting an old Stanley #4. Paul Sellers only uses them in his work, and he does magic with it. I was tempted as you, but finally opted for the old #4. I couldn't be happier.

Have fun,
mike

Howdy Dusty,

I think we all have the same problem with the DC3300. Nice shelf. Does the shelf attach to the base or simply rest on the top of the box?

Best,
mike

My new (old) DC3300 is the metal unit. Does anyone know if there are any issues with the old design? Seems to work just fine. ~mike

Howdy, Here is an update. I purchased the DC from the Craigslist ad you posted. Thanks a ton. It was far cheaper than buying a new motor and I am now back in business. Best, mike
