Re: How do you really feel about the term "Smart Motor"?
I too do not care for the usage of smart motor when discussing other than the PowerPro. I really see no reason for why this is being done but it really causes no harm --- just possible confusion. Unfortunately, the persons who need to hear these thoughts are nost probably not listening to the member...

Re: Is the Smart Motor Speed Dial Ring, Back-Up Spring, part# 504196
I suspect that someone has pushed the "smart" word on Mr Cupps when talking about the PowerPro and that label has then been incorrectly applied to the other motors. We all know that the Mark V has only those smarts that the operator brings to it and sometimes that is doubtful.

Re: Table Saw Cutting Funny
What you describe (or at least how I envision it) just cannot happen without some kick back. Make certain that all five locks are secure (especially the headstock lock and the fence lock and the carriage lock. Set the fence so that the distance from the blade to the fence equals the width of a strai...

Re: New Power Station Motor Or Fix It
IIWM... Having used several SPTs on the old 3/4HP Mark 5 as well as the newer 1-1/8HP, if I was changing the motor in the PS I would go with 1 HP. I agree with Dennis on TEFC. I don't know about installation and removal of the bushing/sleeve, but original ID would be the OD of the shaft, which I th...

Re: New Power Station Motor Or Fix It
Since SS says no lubrication required, could it be that the manufacturer used (universal) end caps that have "oil holes" that are not used in this application? I t makes no sense that they are 90° off set if they are intended to be used. Also oil holes have a spring loaded caps over them ...

Re: New Power Station Motor Or Fix It
I just noticed that the end caps have been manufactured with a location where oil cups could have been. I also noticed that if oil cups had been installed they would be offset from one another by 90 degrees. This forced be to check the power stations. They too are offset. I must assume that this cha...

Dusty: Completely seized = couldn't turn the shaft at all, not even with an 18" torque bar. Had to use hydraulic puller just to separate shaft from front bell. Nothing to loose taking it in to an electric motor place...If I can find one around here. RE Oiling: guess that's what I get following...
