Nick,

Thanks. I re-did with real money this time and inserted it as you suggested. After the alignment, there is no bind. I'm happy again.

Alignment Snafu

I am reluctant to start what may be a new thread on table alignment. I apologize if this seems to be a new one. To me, it isn't. Several weeks ago I aligned my table slots to the sanding disk. I went from about 0.010 to 0.0035. I was elated! At the time, I used a piece of paper instead of a dollar b...

How would one go about placing an order? Do you work directly with Incra for these miter bars?

Alec-

My only comment is to make your shop as large as feasible given your space, funds, etc.

I built a 16X20 about 5 years ago. It seemed like a mansion at the time. Now, it's unfortunately smaller than I'd like.

No harm, no foul. I certainly did not take offense and did not feel you were/are picking on me. I appreciate knowing that you have tremendous skills and knowledge, and that I can benefit from the fact you share these in the forums and in the academy sessions. My first woodworking book was authored b...

I am a fanatic about dust control. Ask my wife. We share a large basement. My shop is on one end, and her tole painting shop is on the other. I do all my finishing in her shop. For those reasons as well as health concerns, we need to keep dust under control. I do have an overhead 3 speed air cleaner...

I don’t want to shoot a dead horse. But with all due respect, I feel a need to add to my earlier posting on this topic. I think I may have been misquoted in one instance. I did not say the SS dust collector could not be hard piped. I stated that it was underpowered for such an arrangement. Perhaps I...

I can build a little off Paul's comments. I too believe the SS dust collector is underpowered for a hard-piped arrangement. After several years, I upgraded to a 1 1/2 HP model with 1100 CFM. This capacity is about 3X the SS capacity. Even then I only used it on one machine at a time due to using fle...

I use several methods. There is a local mill that will sell me kiln-dried FAS red oak at $3.30/bd ft. He will plane both sides and give me one straight edge at no charge. Last year he sold me clear red oak at 6 ft lengths (200 ft) that was outstanding. Poplar is $1.80-$2.00/bd ft. I bought pine for ...
