My only downside is that I'm not sure what will happen when it falls or I drop it I have the 6" rule and have dropped it more times than I care to admit. Despite my butterfingers, it has held up quite well. The steel is "springy", so it absorbs the shock of hitting the shop floor. I ...

Hi all, I am cutting out chair slats on the bandsaw. The oak slats have a 36 inch radius curve and are 3.5 inch thick. I am using a 1/2 inch blade. Now another question, the cover has a label on the lower left side. Mine is so faded that you can't read it. Anything I should know about on that label? Ed It is a standard warning label - but the "unique" item (and most important) is not to run over 1000 RPM, or "D" on the spee...

I've always been proficent at the drawing board and with a sketch pad. On my sketch pad I'll usually devote two or three pages to a project with "blow ups" of critical joints. I fully dimension my sketches. This helps to reduce cutting errors. This works for me and I can't see the need to...

I understand (I think) the stated purpose of the Carter Guides but I still need some help. How do the Carter Guides relate to ( serve to correct ) the problem stated in the beginning of this thread (first post)? The Carter guides are rollers (bearings) that you can set very close to the blade. This...

over the 50+ years of Shopsmith there are just a handful of reviews and most are not really critical reviews with a rating. I often wonder if that is because many "professionals" don't take the Mark V/7 seriously. They seem to think that everyone has a 10,000 sq.ft. basement with plenty o...
