The plastic base has to be removed to attach the router to the router to the steel plate on the joint matic. That plate is about 1 inch from the fence on the joint matic which takes up a lot of the router adjustment. I changed from a black and decker router model 7610 with rack and pinion adjustment...

Did you notice any run out with the extra length? I had a black and decker model 7610 with a rack and pinion adjustment. It would not go far enough. I replaced it with a craftsman router that had the ring adjustment. I finally took the red ring adjuster off the router and now I can get enough length...

I just purchased a joint matic (horizontal router jig) and have mounted it to the tubes of my 510. It is solid and the router seems to run fine. the only problem I have found is the distance from the face of the collet to the face of the fence on the joint matic is about .877. the shank of most of m...

I have a 510 without the telescoping legs on the table. My plan is to use some tubes and table supports from a 500 and attach it to a floating table using it like the table on the opposite end. I will have to thread and tap or put in a threaded slug in the casting and bolt the suppports to the table...

Speed Control
Has anyone tried to put a speed control on a shop smith motor to reduce the speed so the lathe would work better? I doubt a dimmer would work but a good speed control might. thanks
