Wood Hardener
Anyone ever use a wood hardener on soft or punky wood? I saw Bondo and Verathane brands on the shelf this weekend and made me wonder.

Attachment runout
General question on attachment runout. My arbor has zero runout. That's fantastic. My 6" cast faceplate had .001 to 002, set screw loose or tight, and its diameter is rough. That's fantastic. My Oneway scroll chuck has about the same, .001 to .002, along its widest diameter. Love it. But that's...

Re: Maxi clamp used
I didn't know those were made anywhere else. I've never seen them in any of my area Ace stores.

Re: Maxi clamp used
Looks like an index wheel being made. How is it going to be mounted? I've become amazed with rose engines and ornamental turning so I'm making a wooden prototype based around the double bearing quill. Its going well so far. The indexing wheel and a couple more and the headstock portion will be done...

Maxi clamp used
Dont find I use my maxi clamps often, but they solved this set up with ease. The 6 inch faceplate is still attached to the underside, thus the need to elevate. For those that dont recognized them, the silver knob holding down the wood with the clamps is the quick release knob from the maxi clamp sys...

Re: What color is this?
Bill V is the winner! Black Walnut GOLD! My buddy, who just started renting a house, didn't know how long the tree had been cut, but figured it was at least a year already. He's actually helping the owner fix the house up and they were just going to haul it to the dump. The bark that was still on, w...

Re: A Facebook Response from Shopsmith
So WHY didn't SS get the tooling back? I didn't see a response for this question but in my neck of the woods, there aren't a lot of small production machine shops left. Seems to be even fewer experienced machinists left. I've been on the lookout for a small used metal lathe and you'd think I was se...
