Re: home made belt grinder

Not sure if it is 80/20. I was browsing our local Kijiji internet “buy and sell” and ran across a guy selling some 1 ½”x1 ½” square extruded aluminum by 6 feet long. It does have t-slots in each face made to take the head of a 5/16” bolt.

Re: Need help identifying something

They also made a version to fit the Shopsmith or any 5/8" shaft, no adapter required. Quite compact with little overhang. Here is mine (sorry for the blurry pic)sitting in the lid of the plastic tool box I keep it in:

Re: home made belt grinder

I occasionally run across photos from this post on Pinterest and Homemade Tools site, so wanted to direct those interested to the latest version of the grinder: See also this later post describing a better version of this Shopsmith powered grinder. https://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/viewtopic.php?f=...

bandsawing HDPE works great

Recently needed to upgrade an under basement floor drain using a "quad flow trap seal" but to install it, had to make an adapter ring having inside diameter of 4". I got a piece of 3/4" thick high density polyethylene (hdpe) and cut out a 6" ring on the Shopsmith bandsaw,usi...

Re: Mystery Add-On

I found a reference to it in a pdf file of a Montgomery Ward brochure:

Re: nifty belt grinder mods

After brief use, realized the belt should be on the left side away from the drive connector, to make belt changes easier (d'oh). So I moved everything over:

Re: yard sale scroll saw

Yup, $2.00

They were clearing out an old garage and I had to tell the guy what it was. After that, still only $2. I like yard sales!

yard sale scroll saw

I picked up an old scroll saw (jig saw?) at a yard sale yesterday for $2. It looked pretty grubby, had not been used in years (spider webs, dirt and sawdust all over) but it cleaned up ok and on dis-assembly, appeared to be little worn. I wire brushed the worst of the rust off the parts, greased the...
