Moulding cutter
I have owned my Shopsmith for 25+ years and I don't know when I bought the moulding head cutter but I have one with 5 sets of cutters. I got it out today to experiment with it. First thing I noticed as best I can tell nothing in any of the Shopsmith documentation tells which way the head is to rotat...

I have the Shopsmith biscuit jointer and I like it. I also have access to a Lamello biscuit jointer and have used it and like it. Here is how I see it, to use the hand held you have to have the wood clamped/anchored down so it won't move and then you bring the handheld into contact and make the cut....

Woodsmith magazine has excellent plans. I built one from their plans 18 years ago and it has served faithfully for 6 grandchildren. One of the nice features was the cradle came off the pedestal and the pedestal then broke down into pieces that would fit inside the cradle for storage. The cradle was ...

If I understand right the SS bandsaw it is built and designed for the blade to track off the back of the wheels. Then SS puts alignment rollers that prevent the blade from actually tracking off the wheels. If I look at my Bandsaw the blade is toward the back of both wheels and against the alignment ...

The only reason to do a bevel cut instead of a mitre cut is when the wood is too wide to cut completely through on a mitre. If you watch a craftsman they always try to make angle cuts using a mitre type cut rather than a bevel. Watch carpenters on a powered mitre saw they cut the wood standing up in...

It doesn't detect blood--it detects moisture. And yes, moist wood can set it off. That wouldn't be so bad, except that it doesn't simply shut down. It's similar to an air bag in a car. One it goes off you have to replace some parts (an aluminum block, as I recall, and probably the blade as well). M...

Check out these pictures for the slickest infeed/outfeed table design I have ever seen. http://www.ssusers.org/files/Earl%20Morton%27s%20projects/Infeed%20and%20outfeed%20tables/ These were posted on the Yahoo Shopsmith user group. The guy that did them even included a short video to show installing...
