Re: mark vii start relay specs
So your saying I should ignore the installation instructions that came with the relay and basically hook it up just like the old one was connected, right? Actually, the relay instructions may be illustrating the same hook-up that's in the Shopsmith anyway. It kind of makes sense as I don't really kn...

Re: mark vii start relay specs
Then is the yellow wire the lead to the motor start winding? I've procured a Mars 19004 and am unsure which terminals to connect the motor wires to as it appears to be different than the(RBM, I think) relay that came on the AO Smith motor. Terminals 5 and 1 on the original relay are definitely acros...

Re: Old Mark VII Motor Capacitor Question
Is there a source for a replacement relay? A local motor shop told us the relay on our motor is in fact bad.lahola1 wrote:when I got my mark VII the motor didn't start. It would definately "buzz", not "hum".
Turned out to be the start relay.
Good luck.
Thanks

Old Mark VII Motor Capacitor Question
I have a 1964 vintage Shopsmith Mark VII and have a question about the motor capacitor. Without the drive belt attached, the motor starts and runs fine. The beast has set for probably 10-15 years without being run so the belts in it are most likely set in the position it was left in. With the old be...

Re: Old Mark VII Parts Question
Thanks for all the helpful info. I've purchased the appropriate belts. Now, I notice the Mark V belt comes with instructions for replacement if you buy it from Shopsmith. I know it's not a Mark VII head, but the assembly might be similar. Does anyone have a copy of those instructions they'd be willi...

Re: Old Mark VII Parts Question
Does the shorter belt change the speeds at all or is it just the belt width that affects it?cham-ed wrote:I ended up using a 30" belt as 1/2 sizes are VERY hard to find.

Old Mark VII Parts Question
I have a Shopsmith Mark VII purchased in 1964 that needs new belts. Can anyone tell me if the belts for the Mark V head will fit the old Mark VII head as well? If not is there a source for these belts? I'd hate to see this beast go to Shopsmith heaven because of such a simple problem. Thanks Bill Lugg
