Re: Wanted - Quadrant for my 4" Jointer fence #505681-B
I have a similar problem and I believe I have an older 505681 Jointer. The threads in the quadrant which appear to be a steel helicoil inserted in the aluminum casting were apparantly stripped by the earlier owner. I ordered a replacment quadrant (PN 502651) from SS, but it doesn't match the origina...

Customer Service is TERRIBLE
Shopsmith says they monitor calls to improve their customer service. It's not working!!! I purchased parts to repair the jointer fence on my Mark V Model 500 on 7 October. The parts they shipped arrived on 10 October and were not compatible with my older version. I immediately called and was forced ...

Re: Two Bearing Quill
I have the same problem. I have a two-bearing / 1 piece spindle. I removed the inner (lower) bearing but when trying to press off the outer (upper) bearing over the splines, discovered that the inner diameter of the inner race is smaller than the outer diameter of the splines. That MUST be a collar ...

Replacing bearings on a 2-bearing quill
I am trying to replace my quill bearings. The lower bearing I removed with a bearing puller, but needed to press of the upper bearing, due to the length of the splines on the spindle. When starting to press, the inner race started to peel off the splines. It appears to sit against a machined shoulde...

Re: New to shop smith
I have a similar question. I purchased a rusty Mark V Model 500 and am renovating it. I have been using vinegar baths to sucessfully remove rust and PVC tubes filled with water and potato chunks to clean the ways. I left my saw table legs and quill in vinegar too long (3 days) and it removed the fin...
