Re: Jointer Cleanup and Repair

Another jointer rescue! I acquired this model 620 the other day and I'm in the process of cleaning it up. The outstanding job that Marc Jones did with his jointer based on the expert advice he received from the contributors to this forum gave me the inspiration to attempt this restoration. The seria...

Re: Horizontal Boring

Thanks for your feedback, Ed. The horizontal boring method should work for the metal pins/sleeves I am using. Each pin shaft and mating sleeve require a 5/16" bored hole. I like your idea of using a stop block as you described.

Re: Horizontal Boring

Has anyone used the horizontal boring feature for drilling holes for table leaf pins and sleeves? I'm working on a dining table restoration project and have made six new table leaves and intend to use Lee Valley table-leaf alignment pins. I'm thinking the boring feature would provide more stability ...

Re: Mark V Performance Issues

Following your suggestions (br549, JPG, Dusty) and those from a few others, I was able to pull open the floating sheave and remove the belt. The belt was riding low in the control sheave but the belt appeared to be in good condition. With the confidence that I was able to move the floating sheave, I...

Re: Mark V Performance Issues

I removed the headstock to inspect and clean and lubricate the sheaves. To answer Dusty's question about the upper belt it was centered on the pulley. It would appear that JPG's assumption about the floating sheave being stuck is correct. I attached a photo to illustrate positioning of the control a...

Re: Mark V Performance Issues

First of all, my apologies to JPG for my blunder in confusing him with Dusty, the other AZ Wildcat! From this mistake and the questions I ask I'm sure you can tell I'm a newbie to this forum. Thank you all for your tips. JPG and Dusty are obviously quite correct in explaining that the Mark V motor d...
