Coat the cover with rubberized auto body undercoat. Works wonders.

Re: 10 ER shorty?
I turned mine in to a dedicated sanding station. I can use the saw if I want but to be honest, I never liked the shop smith table saw.

Re: Model 500 carriage problem
Eclips won't work in that application. They don't do well in thrust loads. Either use a proper retaining ring.

Re: Mark VII Gear Rack Replacement
Nice. I made a new rack with off the shelf steel rack from McMaster Carr. I have a thread on it somewhere here. I CNC cut the back for the radius and match drilled holes for the hole rivets in the tube. Shopsmith should have continued this design. The double tilt and reversible motor made this versi...

Re: Robo Calls
I get 10 to 20 per day. Unfortunately my business number was listed on the web AND some deadbeat had the number before. Apparently, I made several inquiries in to pain management, business loans, google advertising, credit increases, travel to Burmuda, and owe money to lots of people. Nothing works....

Re: Mark VII speed control
I have a full machine shop. I made a replacement on my CNC. From start to finish I was in to it about 6 hours, including design and programming the CNC. There was some hand fitting so my model wasn't perfect. If I were cutting a batch of 10 they would cost around $200 on the high side. But I'm not r...

Convert Power Station to 60V Dewalt Battery
Hello Y'all, I have been trying to sell two Shopsmiths and a Power Station to no avail. I need to get rid of them because I need the room in my shop for professional stationary equipment. I have recently purchased some of Dewalt's new 60v max tools. They are fantastic. So I'm looking at my Power Sta...

Re: Headstock lock stuck locked
My biggest complaint with Shopsmith is their use of terrible structural materials. But don't worry about the dent. You can swap it out with some polished tube from a steel yard

Re: Removal of Allen Screw with Stripped Head?
(Professional Machinist's 2 Cents Here) Go grab yourself a set of Torx bits. Also called 'star' bits. Usually you can find cheap sets with a cheap driver at the hardware store. Try the size that stripped first. No luck with the right size? Get the next size up and hammer it in to the set screw. I've...
