Shop Vac came back ... not sure if all products are back or not.

Re: Speed control

Glad your machine is back up and running. For future reference and possibly an option for others with similar problem, the entire button bearing assembly can be replaced and is available from Band Saw Tire Warehouse. Here is a link to one of their many listings on ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/35232...

In answer to your touch-up paint question, I found this on Shopmith's website:

Biscuit Cutter Replacement Blade / Instructions

I don't see a replacement blade for the Shopsmith Biscuit Cutter available from Shopsmith. Will any standard biscuit cutter blade fit? Anyone have a favorite replacement blade? And, could also use any instructions or Owner's Manual, if someone can provide one. I have a chance to buy one while on a r...

Re: Those irksome cut-offs-what to do !

I don't have a conical disc, but don't you have to tilt the table (about 4 degrees) when using it? The table appears "flat" in the picture, but maybe the angle at which the picture was taken is just making the table look "flat". Or, perhaps the table was returned to 90 degrees af...

Re: And what's this for?

David is correct. My 1980 Mark V 500 Owner's Manual mentioned it's purpose, but a Product Modification Notice was also included with the explanation as to why it was eliminated. Mine does not have the extra slot.

Re: New owner of a Greenie

In case the picture you included of the various parts was for help in identifying, here's my guess on some of them. My machine is 1980's vintage, and some parts still looked the same then. Suggestion for future pictures: Keep resolution a little higher. As long as each file is under 3 MB, you should...

Re: Mark V 500 Capacitor Failure?

Thanks jpg for the excellent verbal description of the function of all of the pieces. The purpose of the plated steel arms (you were right, not aluminum) now makes sense. My new capacitor arrived in the mail and all is back together and seems to running properly. Getting the copper yoke and the plat...

Re: Mark V 500 Centrifugal Switch Contact Points

I temporarily changed the subject line, as my question now has to do with how the contact portion of the centrifugal switch works. After some confusion on my part, I think I understand it, but would appreciate a more expert opinion, confirmation, or correction. On a GE motor such as mine, the round ...

Re: Mark V 500 Capacitor Failure?

Thanks for the tips and suggestions. A local motor repair shop was investigated, but it would involve driving thru Houston, which I am becoming less inclined to do. I'll double check the centrifugal switch contact arms too, to be sure I didn't bend them too much. New capacitor that I ordered online ...
