Resawing - cut results - one face smooth, the other face rought
So I'm working on my resawing skills, which are as limited as my resawing experience, i.e., very. Got a pretty good cut on my first try as far is getting through the board really pretty straight. On examining the cut, it was really striking that one cut face was quite smooth, the other very rough - ...

Shopsmith Shaper Origin setup
I’ve been using a Shaper Origin for various things for a while, especially for engraving, and finally had one of those brain-click moments when I realized there’s a very simple way to use the Shopsmith to make using Origin easier. Shaper Origin is essentially a mobile CNC router. It uses a "tap...

An old jointer on a SS 7 w/Power Pro - RPM?
I have a Shopsmith mark 7 with the power pro head. A friend of mine who unfortunately is having to stop woodworking just gave me his Shopsmith jointer. It's an old unit -- I'm not sure how old, but much much older than the mark 7. it's in good shape – he takes meticulous care of his tools. It hooks ...

Re: Drilling holes in extension tables
Here’s what I’m looking at. - I only get one chance at this, so good planning is essential. - The aluminum of the table seems to be between 1/8” amd 3/16” thick. - The bracing pattern on the back provides two nice round centers that would supply good support for bolts with washers. The accompanying ...

Re: Drilling holes in extension tables
You’re right. And here I would have sworn they were ferrous metal.Good; that means drilling them is much closer to my pay grade.

Drilling holes in extension tables
My apologies if this has been covered elsewhere. The Shopsmith main table has two holes in it that provide for mounting things such as the shaper fence. I’d like to drill the same size holes in my extension tables. I don’t have much experience with drilling in heavy ferrous metal. Am I biting off mo...

By the way, if you happen to be able to point me to any of those existing posts, I would very much appreciate it. I've been searching, but my keyword mojo doesn't seem to be very strong around here.
