Re: Mounting a Digital Readout

It has been a few years since this was posted...just curious as to how well this is holding up? Sorry, I only recently discovered the forum and saw your post. Any issues with the Wixey DRO on the Shopsmith? This is my first time on the forums in a few years, and I just saw your post. I don't use it...

Re: Belt sander tensioning

Thanks! I got caught up in the four revolutions bit. Adjusting the head and turning the knob forward seems to have taken care of the problem.

Belt sander tensioning

I'm having difficulty setting the tension on my belt sander, and I'm not sure whether the problem is with the sander or with me not knowing how to use it. I would guess it's from the 90's. It was given to me by a friend, who used it up until it was put in storage, so if anything went wrong with it. ...

Re: Shopsmith - Is shipping always this slow?

Thanks, I'm going to give them a call. I just wanted to get an idea of what's normal, first.

The on-line order status is where I got the Jan 9 date, and the other info in my original post.

Shopsmith - Is shipping always this slow?

I placed an order on Nov 21 for a filter hood, some sliding t-nuts, and an expansion bar. Only the filter hood was listed as "may be on back-order", but it's been over a month now, and nothing has shipped. My order status says that the filter hood is expected on Jan 9, the gift card is out...

Re: Mounting a Digital Readout

I got tired of adjusting the height of the auxiliary table, and tried attaching the DRO to a floating table instead. The DRO is very light, and the table doesn't sag at all. With the configuration pictured below, it's possible to do cuts up to about 16.5" inches. With no gap between the tables,...

Mounting a Digital Readout

I hooked a digital readout up to my shopsmith. http://www.applefritter.com/files/PC020009.jpg The configuration is inspired by the Shopsmith Edition Incra TS-LS: the encoder is mounted on the auxiliary table with a clamp and the scale is attached to the fence. To connect the scale to the fence, I us...

Re: Making wedges on the jointer

I just pulled out the jointer that came with my older shopsmith and gave that a try. After taking six passes, the taper over two feet is just under a 64th, so it does seem the problem is with the jointer, and not with my technique.

Jointing short (12" long) boards is something I try to avoid. Do this with about 2' long (or longer) pieces to see if you get similar results. I don't have a spare board of that length right now, but I'll give that a try. Infeed table is set for what depth of cut? About 1/32. I didn't fine tun...

Not quite perfectly, as you can tell from the initial measurements, but it was a milled board from Lowes. It looked flat with a straight edge, but I didn't use anything like a dial indicator on it.
