Since I have a 2nd Mk VII now, maybe I can put the sharpening stone on the front shaft of the 2nd unit, and keep the 1st unit a dedicated lathe. Is there a list of item(s) that can go on the rear shaft? Sanding disc or sanding drum... maybe the band saw I want.... Now that I have 2 units, I think I ...

It just happens I purchased my 2nd Mk VII setup yesterday and it came with 2 plates... lg and sm

Not sure who makes them though - looks like they'll fit.

Shopsmith lathe face plates - or another maker?

So I just purchased my 2nd Mk VII for $50, and it came with these face plates - 6" and 3.5"

Only marking is on the small one, 3053-2X (the X goes across one of the holes, so is unreadable)

Very heavy.

Sorry for all the questions.... I'm almost ready to start making stuff :rolleyes:

Recommended lathe chuck for Mk VII ?

So if I'm spending upwards of $30 on the name-brand lathe faceplate, would that money be better spent towards an adjustable chuck/jaw combo? Especially with the added benefit of not having to use screws to attach every time?

Anyone have a recommendation on what's worked best for you?
