Re: Just curious who close to me?

Hey SkullsquadronX,

I'm in Bethlehem PA, Northampton County. I'd call it East - central PA.

Re: anybody else get this stuff

Hi All, I get these calls all the time. I do my part to save you all from getting called. Whenever I can, a few times a week, I pick up the call and talk with these clowns as they are all scams that I've researched and am well aware of. I engage them as if I'm really believing their story. It's a ga...

Re: Second ShopSmith, Needs Work

Hi Dzawacki, From my perspective, and that of many others, we don't see the problem. I had a similar discussion with my wife a while back, See prior posts http://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/community-f7/my-wife-thinks-i-have-a-problem-maybe-you-can-rela-t17708.html#p205103 She finally stopped asking ...

Re: BILL MAYO INSTRUCTIONS

Here are a few pictures of the switch location I selected. It is out of the way and not likely to get bumped inadvertently. The wire routing inside the head is clear of the quill and quadrant movements.

Re: BILL MAYO INSTRUCTIONS

I recently did a reverse job. JoshH took Bill's work and expanded on it. It was excellent. See link: https://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/viewtopic.php?p=144297#p144297 Also, EverettDavis provided a schematic which, to me, was the only thing missing from the work of Bill Mayo and JoshH. The only thing...

Re: Speed adjustment, can't get to low end?? ..

Hi Dusty, Thanks for posting the link. That is the manual that came with the tach. The tach uses a laser to measure reflections and calculate rpm, fpm, etc. There area variety of attachments for measuring shaft speed, linear belt speed or length. It works in contact and non contact mode but in eithe...

Re: Speed adjustment, can't get to low end?? ..

Hi JPG,

I'm using a Shimpo Tach. I took a picture of how I checked the quill shaft speed. I did the same on the motor shat before I reassembled it. I also shot a picture of the certification. Seems it's almost 12 years overdue for a re-calibration.

Re: Speed adjustment, can't get to low end?? ..

Thanks for the tip JPG. Now the plot thickens ... I thought I'd verify the tach against a known entity. So I tach'ed the motor shaft and got 3580 PRM which I thought was fairly close to a 3600 RPM motor. But when i looked at the nameplate, it said the output should be 3450 RPM! So I was getting a re...

Re: Speed adjustment, can't get to low end?? ..

I snapped a quick picture but didnt measure. The belt is a 504193. It's an older belt but looked to be in good shape so I reused it. I believe the current number is different.
