OK, I apologize, in the red stripe it does say original formula. Never noticed it before. Any way around it they seem to have changed the formula. From the other pics posted I now know that I've not lost my mind, at least not on this subject. I remember reading somewhere that Johnsons had removed th...

Went by the house and looked at the cans. All have the same UPC code 46500 00202 took the pics as well. None of the cans say "original" formula, just Johnsons Paste Wax.

The first of the Grey Goop cans was purchased at Wally World, second at the Big Orange Box Store

It is possible that they received enough complaints to go back to the original. I've not looked at any in the stores in over a year due to being so disappointed in what it had become. When I first got the Grey Goop I went to the Johnsons website and checked and they said that there was no change, fu...

Been away from the ShopSmith Forum for a while, Johnsons changed the formula for their wax a maybe two years ago. I have a little of an old can left. It is a nice thick yellowish wax. The new stuff is grey and soupy in the Florida heat. Seems they removed the Carnuba from the formula. when I bought ...

I'm in Jacksonville on the southside, 'bout 15 minutes from the beach. MkV 520 with a PowerPro head, band saw, jointer, sander etc. I also have a SawSmith 2000 and other assorted shop goodies. Love to hear from other SS owners in the area.

When i've done pens with a porous wood i've put a dab of CA glue on a piece of 220 sandpaper and sanded. It builds up a paste of dust and fills the pores. Then sand out and finish as usual, I usually stop at 4-5coats of CA and then the same paste wax I use on the shopsmith. Works for me.

No regrets whatsoever. I purchased a new one and opted to hang on to my old head (i have plans for it) and have had some minor problems that Shopsmith has stayed right on top of. Biggest issue is that my unit is cold sensitive. Seems that there are a handfull of units that simply won't turn on below...

Had a similar problem with my powerpro. Turns out the problem was the cold weather. I'm in Jacksonville Fl, which is usually relatively warm but we've had a pretty cold winter here. for some unexplained reason, the PowerPro doesn't like the cold and simply will not turn on untill it gets warm enough...

A couple of years ago I was experimenting with a cheap Chinese made bass guitar. I removed the frets and inlaid strips of maple in their place. Finished the whole fretboard with CA glue. No special technique, used gel type CA glue and spread it around with small disposable brushes. When it felt like...

I've been using a Sawsmith2000 for over a year now and love the machine. There are some drawbacks, first is the parts availability issue, second is the fact that the motor is an open design. Sawdust can build up in the motor and cause it to overheat. I blow out everything with compressed air on a re...
