Re: Mystery Spring
I have yet to receive my order for the springs that were the subject of this thread but I did receive (just now) the knobs that are associated with the knobs used on the Shopsmith rails. Then are not exact replacements but are in my opinion better than what came with my new Mark 5/Model510. I bough...

Re: Mystery Spring
The trunnion (table tilt) locks have two springs, both item 157. I don't have one handy to compare. The carriage wedge lock mechanism is another possibility IIRC. - David You state an iyem number (157). Where do you find that in today's online catalog. Under Service Parts there are diagrams and par...

The object is to set all of the tables at the same height (in the same plane). The gauge does nothing more than define a height. I use a wooden yardstick (from way back when) that just happens to be the right thickness.

Re: Eccentric Adjustment
Since this adjustment involves the idler shaft does it in any way effect the motor belt and/or idler pulley?

Eccentric Adjustment
I don't recall having ever adjusted the eccentric.
Would someone please try to bring me up to speed. What is the purpose of the eccentric adjustment? My guess is that it is the adjustment for poly-v belt tension. What symptoms are there indicating a need to make this adjustment?

Squareness of Way and Bench Tubes
while attempting to assemble the parts of a recently acquired 510 I experienced difficulty getting the end castings to square up.
should the exposed way and bench tubes all be the same length thus making the end castings parallel to one another?

Re: Table flatness
very simple solution
If one needs extreme precision -
buy the right equipment
an axe won't do the trick
right tool for the task is a must
