Re: Lathe duplicator spindles

I do what Everette does which is bevel the corners off. You can use the band saw, table saw or the jointer. As far as cutters I use a circular carbide cutter on the duplicator that I buy at Woodcraft. It is about 5/8 inch in diameter and it works extremely well. The hole in the cutter is larger tha...

Lathe duplicator spindles

Does anyone have spindle experience with going from square (4 corners)to regular turned spindle without getting chip out? Could you help me with which cutter you use and how you use it on the wood to transition without tear out? I have 16 legs to do and need to do without tear out due to cost of the...

Is the top made out of cherry? I have a bunch of cherry that has that chikoyence (reflects the light). Spelling is incorrect. I plan to build my grand daughters each a desk with that top. I have never seen a lot of cherry with that feature.

I was planning between an all-in-one plan and supplemental. I know some that have no premium with 1200 deductible. I went with a Bankers Life Plan N supplemental due to two main reasons. I am on Hormone therapy for prostate cancer and the supplemental plan covers the entire U.S. A. in area and my so...

I was a senior in high school. We were dismissed early. JFK speeches influenced me a lot and I loved this country. I live in Pa. (about 50 miles north of Phila) and had intensions to go to college. JFK influenced me to take my chances on the draft and not go to college. I had applied to Ursinus, Pri...

I am retired so I don't really care but IMHO right to work is a mistake! It gives companies the ability to shaft the workers. Pennsyalvania is a right to work state and it does NOTHING to help the workers. If you call the Labor relation board the first thing the will ask you is if you have a contrac...

Another possible idea. Have you tried using the Shopsmith in the horizontal boring function? That is one reason I bought my Shopsmith years ago but with biscuits and other capabilities today it is a lost function. I used it with pretty good results. Just remember to keep the veneer side down against...

The second picture is one of the fences that came with the unit. It can be bolted to the table as shown or laying down. There were two fences so you could offset them for certain cuts on the table. The white plastic piece did not come with mine.

Today I am proud to be an American. However, I don't beleive it will bring closure to most people - just reopen old wounds. Without going into too much detail I served in a combat zone from Feb 67 - May 68. The marines DO draft people. I was with the 5th Marine Brigade. When I got home I took a line...

We all have a tendency to get over confident, lazy, or think nothing will happen to me. That's how I got injured once when using the SS in the router mode. I was in a hurry and only doing one cut so I didn't put the guard in place. The bit grabbed the wood and I came in contact with the bit. Off to ...
