Is it worth it?

Proud owner of a SS for 45 years. Sometimes after I make it nice and shiny, I step back a just admire the engineering that went into making it and what a great machine it is. I sometimes think of an upgrade to a Power Pro but.........here's the rub: I have read numerous posts regarding problems with...

Another pork chop story

So I was having trouble with the speed dial on my 520 being hard to turn and hanging up slightly in several spots. I took out the speed mechanism and saw that the teeth on my pork chop (I always get hungry when I think about it) were goofed up. A lot of uneven wear and bent. I ordered a new porkchop...

Re: Anybody Using a Microjig

I agree. As far as I can tell, the company has a good reputation. I think I'll call them and see what they say.

I have been using my Shopsmith for over 45 yrs. I am very familiar with the ins and outs of it I think. Apparently, the product works for some and not for others and may require sanding to fit.

Re: Anybody Using a Microjig

I realize that a bit of sanding is not the end of the world but I would think a company named "Microjig" would be more exacting. Maybe I'm becoming and old grouch. I'll ask my wife..............yep, I'm an old grouch apparently. :)

Re: Anybody Using a Microjig

Thumbs down on the miter bar. I was going to use it on the new sled I made but the thing does not fit properly in the miter slot without sanding the edges. Very disappointed in this. Will use something else.

Large sheet material

I have read several comments here re: the SS difficulty cutting large sheets, e.g. 4x8 plywood. Why would anyone try to cut something so large? I don't even do this on my cabinet saw, although I could with a proper outfeed table. I think it is too dangerous. I have always planned my projects out and...

Re: Speed dial handle

Thanks for the replies. I found a small knob (2" diameter) in my jig knob collection that is a press fit on the speed dial handle. It can be removed easily if needed. Works good for my slightly arthritic hands. I am mindful of going slow on my speed changes. This idea may be helpful to those wi...
