Blackace,
With the Mark V 500 you can use the SS #555627 support legs with your table. I will post a pic of using them on my 500 along with a simple jig that will
address any creep in your carriage as well as preventing any creep in your fence when drilling tough material.

Hi, You can quickly check for headstock or carriage creep by simply placing a mark on the front way tube 1" left of the headstock and 1" to the right of the carriage. Drill a few holes and If you have a change in one or both of the 1" measurements you have creep. The SS manual has the...

Hi,
Try the Shopsmith Table Support Leg #555627. I have a couple and they really help stabilize my 500 table.

Hi,
Yes, but it would be like taking a sledge hammer to kill a bug. Buy your better half one of those ceramic sharpeners and leave it in the kitchen drawer for her. Use your SS for the fun things like drilling, sawing and sanding.

Chuck, There are good ideas in most every jig and I just try to put as many of those good ideas that I see into my jigs. I have a couple of sharpening jigs that work fairly well with bench and lathe chisels. It would be nice if folks would post pics of their jigs and fixtures for the SS. I am always...

Infeed/Outfeed Table

Several months back I said I would post some pics of the outfeed table that I built for my Mark V. I have so many jigs for my Mark V I have been reluctant to upgrade to the 510 or 520. Anyway here are some pics of my outfeed table for all of you 500 users. If you have questions give me a ping.

Turning Pens

Fun to do......just a bit addictive. I use a finish on mine that I got from the Bonnie Klein site. Equal parts Alcohol, Boiled Linseed Oil and Zinsser Shellac. A little on a paper towel with a little pressure while applying it to the turning pen and it heats and is dry. Cheap to make and quick. How ...

SS Box Joints

Dusty, Perhaps a little out of tune in that this thread was on router tables and I got into box joints, anyway this another method that I use with my Mark V. It is a simple jig, but by using feeler gauges I can dial it in very quickly. The one in the pics is a 1/2" jig. The box joints in the li...

Dusty,
Just the wonders of photography, small looks big and big looks small. My shop is too small and a mess like most woodworkers. I have been turning pens and goblets with my SS so I will do my best to set it up for box joints today and take a pic of the jig.
