In my opinion this is a really important question. My first experience with woodworking didn't come until about age 8 or 9 in elementary school (I was a big city kid). Back then "shop classes" were the norm all the way through high school. Having raised 6 kids I can tell you that in my exp...

Hi, The miter slots on the SS 2000 serve two functions: 1. The typical action of sliding the miter gauge in the miter slot to move the wood through the blade (SS 2000 being used in the "table saw" mode). And, 2. To hold the wood in a fixed position on the table when the saw blade is being ...

Hi,

Posted some photos a long while back with some comparisons of Mk5 and SS2K arbors.

As you can see the Mk5 and SS2K dado arbors are just a bit different. It may not matter if you end up making your own dado table insert for the SS2K.

Could you mark out the full 1-1/2" circle with a compass, drill the hole with your largest forstner bit on the same center, then use a drum sander (1" dia or less) to expand the hole out to the full diameter required?
Just a thought.

Hi Steve, I am not an expert but will try and answer your questions: 1. You will notice that the miter bar for the Sawsmith 2000 lacks the slot and tapered screw arrangement found on the 510's miter bar. Therefore it cannot actually be locked into place like you can on the 510's miter gauge. [ATTACH...

Hi Ivan, Sorry, I don't know anything about your Delta RAS, so I just present the following info as a bit of historical trivia or perhaps another direction to explore further. An indirect answer to your RAS accessories question is yes, Yuba, and Magna tried it (and sold it). These are two of the ear...

Hi Eric, The train appeared a couple of times in Hands-On, but the fire engine (a neat hook-and-ladder truck) appeared only once that I am aware of, the Nov/Dec 79 Hands-On issue. The train and the fire engine plans were both reprinted in the book Woodworking Projects I . ISBN 0-937558-12-5. It is l...

Hi everyone, It was a busy week for me as well. All the kids were home for the week leading up to Thanksgiving. We sent the last of them off to home and college yesterday. No woodworking, but a great family time! John, I am glad to hear that your "incident" with the dado cut ended up to be...

Thank you for all your replies - there are a number of different model numbers on the front of the saw arbor package. It has a left-hand thread (righty-loosy, lefty-tighty: backwards from the usual way). The diameter is perfect, but the nut does not want to snug up, and leaves a good bit of space. ...
