Speed changer rpms

Post by Real1shepperd »

I was wondering if there is a conversion chart somewhere.....whether I'm in the HIGH-speed range or the LOW-speed range with my speed changer, that would give me relative(close) rpms to the numbers on my speed changer? I do have a nice chart that came with the machine that tells me what rpms are suitable for the various tasks the SS is capable of doing. My speed changer numbers go from 1-5. (10ER)

I agree! All I have is a cheap screenshot at an unfortunate angle. Anyone have a (.pdf) of this?

I also agree it would be nice to have a PDF copy of the last chart. I have not seen that one before which appears to have come out after the Model 10ER was discontinued. Note it says Magna Power Tool Corporation not Magna Engineering Corporation. Below is a PDF replica of the Speed Chart DarrenDD posted in his second post. I printed mine on heavy stock paper and keep it with my Model 10ER for reference.

As it says actual speeds are only approximate.

I think I found my salvation! Buried in a box of SS stuff.....a thick paper dial that you rotate for 'Hard metals, plastics, soft metals, and wood. It's for the single belt AND the speed changer; both high and low. Took me a few minutes to figure it out, but it not only gives one rpms, but what numbers correlate on the speed changer. Perfect. I'm going to wet it then let it air dry between glass...it's pretty warped.

Not the highest quality, but I was able to skew the image fairly quickly using Photoshop to make it more readable. I may play with it some more to improve/replace the blurry text at the top of the chart. Not an Everett Davis quality restoration by any means, but better. A PDF and a JPG version:
