Joint Matic the Machine pictures

Post by reible »

Hi,

This batch will be the last of the Joint Matic pictures of mine from out on Flickr. Some of the other pictures seemed to have revived the interest in this type of machine, so maybe these will prove interesting as well.

Post by cinchriste »

Does anyone know if I can still get parts for the jointmatic? I have a crack at the adjustment screw on the black plastic slide part.

thanks

Welcome to the forums! So far as I know shopsmith no longer carries parts for these. The problem you describe is the typical thing that happens and short of getting really lucky on ebay or an estate sale replacement will be an issue, and even then it can be an issue as this was the weak spot in the design. When I got mine it was repaired, and so far so good. I can shoot some pictures of the repair for reference if you would like to attempt it at home. Let me know. Ed

I just purchased a joint matic (horizontal router jig) and have mounted it to the tubes of my 510. It is solid and the router seems to run fine. the only problem I have found is the distance from the face of the collet to the face of the fence on the joint matic is about .877. the shank of most of my router bits is about 1.15. this only leaves a small amount of the shank inside the collet. Does anyone else have one of these and have you experienced the same problem? Larry
