#258809 by Hobbyman2 » Thu Apr 11, 2019 6:50 pm

Any one have a way to keep the main shaft on a mkv from turning in the lathe position ?
would like to lock it down while rotating it in different positions .

PTWFE has plans for a spindle-indexing apparatus. It’s based on a small faceplate mounted to the aux. spindle. You can find it at the link below by doing a page search for “indexing”.

The plans call for drilling a couple of mounting holes in your headstock housing. But on newer headstocks, I’m thinking that would be a fine use for the two holes where the plastic guard for the aux spindle and idler shaft mounts.

This way has the advantage of not being affected by play in the drive sleeve.

I don't know about other models/brands but the back plate on my SuperNova2 chuck has index holes. :)
