yes, that is a good suggestion, but I do not have a rabbet plane. For the smaller windows, I used a block plane to both inside edges of stiles. Then I made comparable width reduction in the rabbet on both sides. For the rabbet edge I used the Shopsmith table saw. I started the rip cut with window top rail past the blade (frame is already assembled); raised the blade into the stile with the other stile riding the fence; and stopped the rabbet cut before hitting the bottom rail. I then used a chisel for small clean-up of top and bottom edge of stile. Repeated for other side. The rabbet plane would have been simpler.
