Mirror mirror on the wall

Post by masonsailor2 »

A fiend of ours was throwing out a perfectly good beveled glass mirror that I managed to save from the dumptster. It measured 41” square with a 1” bevel so I spent yesterday making a frame for it. The decision on the outside detail has not been made yet. I used mahogany and alder.

Outstanding as usual. Where do you get your hardwood? (have I asked that before? LOL)

I am using Woodworker’s Source in Phoenix lately. I have tried the local source and have not been very pleased with the quality or the service.

Very nice!

It would have never occurred to me to cut the edge profile after glue-up. What are the pro’s and con’s?

The pos are that the fine detail match up perfectly with the miter. The cons are a total blowout. That’s pretty rare as long as you keep control of the piece. Trying to match final profile on glue up is nearly impossible.
