Bandsaw tire kit
Ordered the bandsaw tire kit (rubber) and since it stated as a "kit" I figured I'd get two tires. Opened it up today and only one tire. Is that normal?

Re: Bandsaw tire kit
The 'current' online catalog says 'tire' when referring to the 'kit'.
It also says 'tires'(2) when referring to the urethane tires.
Me suspects an intent to steer us towards the urethane tires(check $).
However the urethane ones are the current 'new is better mindset'.
Both have their pros/cons.

Re: Bandsaw tire kit
The online catalog might be a bit misleading. Read it carefully.
http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/cata ... etires.htm
However, this page clearly states that the part number includes two tires and that glue is not provided/included.
And this is slightly different.

Re: Bandsaw tire kit
I was going through my bandsaw supplies just the other day and found an unopened plastic bag containing a single band saw tire that I must have purchased in the early to mid 1990's. The bag says "BANDSAW TIRE" "518108". Also has instructions inside the bag.

Re: Bandsaw tire kit
When I bought the urethane kit it included both tires. I had poor luck with those after a few small jobs so I'm going back to rubber tires. Pretty inconsistent the way they go about marketing the same basic parts. Maybe we usually only replace one tire??
Re: Bandsaw tire kit
I have installed more than a dozen sets of the Blue Max bandsaw tires. It took me less than 1 minute to install each tire and align it using the included installation tool. No glue was used and comes with a lifetime warranty. These was brought from Ebay seller bandsaw-tire-warehouse .

Re: Bandsaw tire kit
+1 on the blue max bandsaw tires. Easy install with the included installation accessory and some hot water. Just make sure to clean out any glue that may "bulge" or lift the tire up to give you an uneven surface. Incredibly durable and easy install overall. Runs smooth with 1/4" and 1/2" blades. Have had on for 1.5 years without issue.billmayo wrote:I have installed more than a dozen sets of the Blue Max bandsaw tires. Add on Bill Mayos bandsaw bearings and you'll be good to go on that bandsaw.
Cheers,

Re: Bandsaw tire kit
Billmayo and Sazerac81, my brother who also has a ss bandsaw needs to replace his tires. How difficult is it to remove the old tires to use the Blue Max tires you guys reference?
