Latest project

Post by garys »

My Wife is a wood carver and she wanted something to store her carving tools and also have them easily available for use. I built this tool case that stores them closed up for easy storage, but also makes them available independently for daily use.
We still haven't decided on the best use of one side of the box, so it is still empty, but that will happen as needs arrive.
It was built entirely from scraps that were in the shop so it is a medly of different woods.

I like it!

Did you happen to make the little mallet on the bottom? What kind of wood if so?

Yes, I made the mallet too. It is oak with a leather sleeve to protect it from getting beat up when used.

That is a really nice tool case. She will get years of use out of that.

That's a beautiful job of bookmatching the coloration in the wood on the doors, and continuing the pattern across both doors. And the more I learn about woodworking, the more I appreciate how wood "defects" like that little knot at top left can add character to a project. Definitely not "made in China"!
