I use a lot of drilling jigs around the shop and especially out on the job sites installing hardware. This is how I make dead accurate jigs that will last a long time.






I start out with some ½” Baltic birch.

Now back to the Shopsmith fitted with a standard 3/16” bit.  On the job site I would do this step with a hand drill.

By using the Vix bit the jig does not wear and the hole spacing stay consistent. ;)

Love them or hate them these 7 drawer fronts and 3 doors are designed around some fancy pulls.  Myself I lean toward the latter.

Well almost! There is no such thing as perfect! :D


I have used many circle cutting jigs in the past and most designed for the band saw require you to start with an square the exact size of the circle. It usually ends up with a few flat spots and or a band saw blade pushed to the side and therefore not tracking and cutting properly. I am very pleased with this jig. It may actually be a perfect circle! :eek:

The "round" features the customer spec'ed are kind of neat. Looks like the interior of the Hobbit's house :) ....
